Bernardo Silva will leave Manchester City at the end of the season. The confirmation comes from the words of Pep Lijnders, Pep Guardiola’s deputy, who after the 4-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup hinted that the Portuguese midfielder, due on June 30, will not return to Manchester after the World Cup. “Every good story comes to an end. I hope Bernardo enjoys these last six weeks and closes it out in the best possible way, because he deserves it.”

At the Etihad the news was already in the air: now it is also official why the player has ended up in the sights of several top European clubs, including Juventus. Arriving in 2017 from AS Monaco, Silva has become one of City’s mainstays, winning everything and establishing himself as one of the team’s most complete players. His strength is not only his tactical versatility, but above all his football intelligence: having grown up in Benfica, he sees the game like few others.

While sporting director Hugo Viana will have to find a way to replace him, Silva is focused on the end of the season: the race for the FA Cup and a comeback attempt in the Premier League. For the future, the Portuguese is looking for a new challenge at a high level.

Juventus has already initiated contacts with his agent Jorge Mendes, proposing a three-year contract (with option) and a significant salary. But competition is wide: Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and other top clubs remain at the window, without excluding economically richer tracks such as Saudi Arabia or MLS, perhaps with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
