Fierce Gigi Cagni gives Daniele Adani an expiration date

The long-distance repartee between Gigi Cagni and Daniele Adani continues. The former player, now a Rai commentator, in one of the episodes of Viva El FĂștbol had contemptuously called into question the 75-year-old coach from Brescia, referred to as a symbol of the Italian defensive mentality: “I’m sorry to tell you, but today there are still many Cagnis, many coaches like Cagni.”
Cagni after an immediate response on Instagram (“You think we pay him because he is on Rai, but he knows little about soccer”) to the Gazzetta dello Sport entrusted a more articulate response, in which he harshly attacked the pundit. “I had him one year, I did not consider him a starter because in my opinion he did not deserve. We had a normal relationship, though. Maybe he was offended because when he started to do the second voice in the commentaries I said I turn off the sound, but I don’t care.”
“Those who talk like that on TV don’t do soccer any good, they just want to be the protagonists with their language,” Cagni pressed, “. Even Igli Vannucchi who played in that Empoli team claimed that we played better than Como today. We used to play great soccer.”
“Now Lele is holding this microphone, but it amazes me that a man chosen by Rai can afford to offend a coach. A profession that by the way he even tried to do, but only tried, as Baldini’s deputy. Perhaps he did not feel he was up to it. For me it is always the story that speaks. He shot himself in the foot. I’m old, but I think on social media they slaughtered him a little bit.”
Cagni gave Adani an expiration date: “I’m 75 years old and someone still calls me to know my opinion, these I don’t know how long they will last. Personally, I believe very little. Because you need a solid foundation. As long as he is in Rai he will endure, but then he will disappear because he has nothing to say. I may be not capable in many things, but I can’t hear that I don’t understand soccer. Because then I get pissed off. Between me and Adani there is no comparison. I certainly speak less well, less articulate, but I am clear and experienced.”
