Madrid: Lorenzo Musetti rules Griekspoor and goes to the round of 16

Lorenzo Musetti advances to the round of 16 of the Madrid Masters 1000. The tennis player from Carrara, who last year stopped in the semifinals at the Caja Magica, beat the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor in two sets with the partials of 6-4, 7-5 in an hour and 41 minutes of match at the end of a solid test especially from the mental point of view.
Two partials with a similar trend: the Azure got a break right away in the first game of the first set, then conceded a serve blank in the eighth game, suffering the counterbreak by the world number 33, but he immediately put the match back on the right track by snatching again the service from his opponent in the ninth game, then closing 6-4 the set.
In the second partial Musetti broke in the third game, suffering the counterbreak by Griekspoor in the sixth game. The Azzurro managed to avoid the treacherous tie-break by snatching service from the Dutchman in the eleventh game and closing 7-5.
In the round of 16 Musetti will find Czech Lehecka, number eleven in the seeding, who overcame U.S. Michelsen in two sets in the other match on the draw. The Azzurro made his debut in Madrid in the second round, beating Poland’s Hurkacz in two sets. “I needed to regain continuity and feeling, both in the physical and in the head. The work done in the last few weeks is starting to give encouraging answers: I have been training very well and this is the most important aspect. I know that sooner or later the results will come,” Musetti had said after the match.
