Moto3: Mir with a bang, Bastianini third

At his eleventh career race, Joan Mir is being greedy and at the Moto3 Austrian Grand Prix he takes it all: Saturday’s pole position and – taboo broken, since it had never happened this year – the top step of the podium in his first-ever podium finish. It couldn’t have gone better, in short.
The Majorcan centaur of Team Leopard battled with teammate Quartararo and with Bastianini, chased Brad Binder, caught him and put him behind. The South African managed to defend second place. Third, however, was Italian Enea Bastianini, who by just 8 thousandths undermined Frenchman Quartararo – enraged in the box – on the finishing straight: for the Romagna born 1997 (like Mir) it is the third podium in the last four races.
Bad weekend, however, for Navarro. Finished down, the Spaniard lost more ground to Brad Binder in the overall standings. Binder also rejoicing over the suspension of Romano Fenati – third overall – by Sky Racing Team VR46.
The other Italians: the best, after Bastianini, is Fabio Di Giannantonio, eighth, followed by Nicolò Bulega (ninth), Francesco Bagnaia (eleventh), Andrea Locatelli (thirteenth), Niccolò Antonelli (eighteenth) and Stefano Manzi (twentieth).
