Laura Heyrman says enough, career over for Paola Egonu's former partner

Laura Heyrman bids farewell to volleyball and closes a career built at the highest level, between club and national team, with a message full of gratitude and awareness. The Belgian powerhouse announced her retirement with words that tell more than a sporting farewell: the balance of a human journey before even a competitive one.
During her career Heyrman made her mark in several European leagues, establishing herself as one of the most solid and continuous powerhouses of her generation. In her path there was also an important passage in Italy, where she wore the Milan jersey sharing the court with Paola Egonu, an experience that saw her as a protagonist in one of the most competitive and prestigious contexts of international volleyball.
As she bids farewell to played volleyball, she is thus an athlete who has made balance, quality and continuity her distinctive figures, earning over time respect and credibility wherever she has played. “One last round-it happened. It’s hard to find the words to really tell what this part of my life has meant. Because it was never just volleyball. It gave me the opportunity to know a lot more about myself and to meet amazing people, different countries, lifestyles, and cultures.”
“People who guided me, challenged me, supported me, and left something inside of me that I will treasure forever. To all of you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart 🫶🏻 For the trust, for the time, for the teachings, for believing in me and for showing me the way. I am sure that those who have had such a great impact on me know exactly who they are and know how deeply grateful I am to them. The ones I carry with me are not just memories. They have become part of who I am today. You will always have a place in my story. Thank you, volleyball, for allowing me to grow and become the person I am today.”
