Pisa-Lecce, eventually played regularly despite giant fire

The Pisa-Lecce match, scheduled for tonight at 8:45 p.m. and valid for the 16th day of Serie A, has been at risk of postponement. The reason is the vast fire that broke out on Wednesday on Mount Faeta, on the outskirts of the Tuscan city.
The situation remains delicate: firefighters are still engaged in operations to extinguish the flames that are affecting the area between Lucca, Santa Maria del Giudice and the province of Pisa, involving the municipalities of San Giuliano Terme and Asciano. During the night, ground teams and drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras worked to monitor the outbreaks, while since dawn three Canadairs from Ciampino and Genoa have been in action. Several homes were evacuated during the night, especially in the Asciano area. The strong wind made it difficult to contain the fire, also worsening the air quality near the stadium.
For this very reason, with some 3,500 people evacuated, it was not ruled out that action could also be taken on the match scheduled to be played at the Cetilar Arena. In the end, however, it was decided to play regularly.
