Stephan El Shaarawy will leave Roma at the end of the season. At the end of his second Giallorossi experience, the Pharaoh will say goodbye to the club he played for from January 2016 to June 2019, before a Chinese interlude and a return to the capital in January 2021. At 33 years old on October 27, the 32-time Azzurro is still far from a definitive farewell, however, and, indeed, other Serie A clubs eager to add an element of experience and quality to the squad are already starting to move for him.

The first important track is the one that would lead to a romantic return to Genoa. El Shaarawy grew up in the Grifone and made his Serie A debut in the red and blue jersey on December 21, 2008, entering in the last minutes of the match won 1-0 at home to Chievo Verona. At the time, by the way, he broke a record for precocity by being Genoa’s youngest debutant in the top flight, at just 16 years, one month and 24 days.

There is then another hypothesis that would lead to another mid-table club, Torino: the Granata club is looking for elements that can guarantee quality on the field and charisma in the locker room, and El Shaarawy’s profile is impossible to ignore in that sense. While waiting for concrete contacts, the footballer will take some time to evaluate each situation and make a final decision that could be made official well before June 30.

At the age of 1992, Stephan El Shaarawy took his first steps as a footballer in Legino, a Savonese club, before being noticed by Genoa, with which he completed the youth trafila (also winning a Scudetto Primavera and a Coppa Italia in his category) and made his debut in Serie A. After a season on loan at Padova in Serie B, where he scored 9 goals in 30 appearances, he attracted the attention of AC Milan, for whom he played from 2011 to 2015, winning the Italian Super Cup in his first season.

In the first part of the 2015-16 season he attempted a first adventure abroad, with Monaco, only to retrace his steps and join Roma in January 2016. Leaving the Giallorossi in 2019, he played two years in China, at Shanghai Shenua, winning the national cup in 2019. In January 2021, the return to Roma: with the Giallorossi he won the 2021-2022 Conference League, the team’s last trophy won as of today’s date.

El Shaarawy also played 32 times for the national team, scoring 7 times: his first game in the Azzurri was on August 15, 2012 (friendly lost 2-1 to England in Bern, Switzerland), while his first goal was dated November 14, 2012 (defeat also 2-1 in a friendly, this time in Parma against France). He took part, with Italy, in the 2013 Confederation Cup, Euro 2016 and Euro 2024.
