Cantù, two more alternatives to Vitucci pop up

The choice of the new coach of Cantù Basketball will be the first heavy dossier awaiting Simone Giofrè, who is ready to officially become the new sports director of the Brianza club. The executive, a veteran of the experiences in Brindisi and Treviso, will take office in the coming days and will immediately have to navigate through a range of very different profiles, with a couple of options already discussed in recent days and two other alternatives making their way in the last hours.
The two tracks that have been added are those leading to Max Menetti and Alessandro Magro, whom ‘La Provincia di Como’ adds to the batch of bench favorites: the former is back from a sabbatical year after his experience at Zalgiris on Trinchieri’s staff and brings with him a solid resume built up as shown by his experiences in Reggio Emilia and Treviso; the latter, exonerated in Naples last April 6, is looking for a bench to relaunch himself and return to the levels of Brescia, with which he won a Coppa Italia in 2023.
The most natural name, however, because of shared history and professional affinity, remains that of Frank Vitucci, recently promoted to A with Scafati and named best coach of the A2 regular season. Vitucci and Giofrè have worked together in Apulia and La Marca, achieving important results in both basketball realities.
Finally, the options leading to Manuchar Markoishvili, white-blue flag as a player and now at the helm of Monaco, and Gianmarco Pozzecco, former national team coach now at Galatasaray, should not be forgotten. The choice of coach will also be decisive in terms of the market, as the profiles on the list are quite different from the point of view of tactics and team management.
