More disappointment for Cristiano Ronaldo: the final gesture is decidedly unsporting

He was ready to party and, instead, was left with a fistful of flies in his hand and a lot of anger in his body. Al-Nassr lost the Champions League Two final against Gamba Osaka. A goal by Deniz Hummet deprived the Portuguese of a trophy he cared so much about.

The unflappable Portuguese star did not take the defeat very well. As soon as the triple final whistle came, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus striker, visibly displeased, ran to the locker room.

No withdrawal of the “runner-up” medal, as if to send a message to everyone: CR7 only cares about winning, nothing else. The gesture is causing controversy, so much so that some have spoken of a lack of sportsmanship and respect for the winners on the part of the 1985-class striker.

At this point, only the possibility of winning the Saudi Pro League title remains. When there is only one round left in the tournament, CR7’s Al-Nassr has a two-point lead over Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal. On the evening of Thursday, May 20, against Dhamk (fourth last in the league with only 29 points won compared to Al-Nassr’s 83), Cristiano Ronaldo expects to be able to stay on the field and celebrate with the Arabia champion medal around his neck.
