This is it. Today is the big day of the Internazionali d’Italia final. Jannik Sinner, after struggling in the semifinals with Daniil Medvedev, is ready to play for the trophy against Casper Ruud. Previous records smile on the world No. 1 but, in tennis, every match is a story in itself.

What is certain is that Jannik Sinner is ready to take home another milestone that would make him ever more legendary in the tennis world. In case of success, in addition to also flagging the Internazionali d’Italia on his personal booklet of the most prestigious tournaments won, the South Tyrolean would equal a certain Rafa Nadal.

The former Spanish phenomenon is the last to have succeeded, back in 2010, in imposing himself in all the seasonal 1000 on clay. A titanic feat that the Italian can repeat a full 16 years later. In short, not exactly a record for everyone.

For Jannik Sinner, the one with Casper Ruud at the Foro Italico is the sixth consecutive final in a Masters 1000. The record belongs to Nole Djokovic who managed, between Rome 2015 and Madrid 2016, to play seven finals in a row. For this other record there is time, now head to Casper Ruud and, perhaps, Rafa Nadal.
