Frank Vitucci explains the choice of Cantù and immediately indicates the direction to take

Just a few hours after making official the hiring of Frank Vitucci as the new coach of Pallacanestro Cantù, the coach who won, in 2025-2026, the A2 Series with Scafati presented himself at a press conference, accompanied by the club’s president, Roberto Allievi, and the new biancoblù sports director Simone Giofrè, with whom Vitucci himself had collaborated in A previously in Brindisi and Treviso.
“I thank the club for this prestigious opportunity, which honors me greatly – said the coach born in 1963 -. When this proposal came, I easily said yes, because this is a club that has its roots in Italian basketball, has made history but is well hooked on the present, looking ahead. There is an important youth sector here, a following and a passion that are not secondary. I will finally have the warmth of its curve on my side.”
“For me this is a place that has meaning, which stimulates me a lot and charges me with the responsibility of doing well and taking steps together forward. I thank the two coaches who preceded me, Brienza and De Raffaele, for bringing this team back to Serie A and consolidating the category, at a time when this league is very competitive. It will be important to share goals, to know who we are and where we want to go, all going in one direction,” the Venetian coach later added.
Vitucci returns to Serie A after his experience in the cadet league with Scafati, which ended with winning the A2 championship and the consequent direct promotion to the top division. In his career, the 63-year-old coach has also led Reyer Venezia, Andrea Costa Imola, Treviso (both at the time of Benetton and at the helm of Nutribullet), Scandone Avellino, Varese, Torino and Brindisi.
