The Union Brescia and Ascoli are the two finalists of the Serie C playoffs: the Lombardi and Piceni defeated, respectively, Salernitana and Catania in the semifinals, earning the chance to play, in one hundred and eighty minutes, their fourth promotion to Serie B after those, certified at the end of the regular season, of Vicenza, Arezzo and Benevento.

Union Brescia, after a 1-1 draw in the first leg away at Arechi, defeated Salernitana 2-0 in the return leg at Rigamonti: Valerio Crespi put the biancazzurri ahead after not even a minute of play, Luca Vido closed the accounts for good at 96′, just ahead of the final whistle.

Ascoli, on the other hand, started from 4-0 in the first leg at home against Catania but in the return at the “Massimino” found themselves down by two goals, scored by Salvatore Caturano at 7′ and Francesco Forte at 44′. However, the Rossazzurri’s comeback stopped there: Ascoli took advantage of the spaces opened in the final to score with Enrico Oviszach, in the 83′, closing the accounts for good.

The two final matches will be played on June 2 and 7: Union Brescia will play the first match in front of its own public, Ascoli will instead be at home at the “Del Duca” in the return match. Up for grabs is the return to the B division after just one season for Brescia soccer and after two years for the bianconeri from Marche.
