Napoli, rags fly between De Bruyne and Antonio Conte’s staff: harsh retort to the champion

Total clash between Kevin De Bruyne and Antonio Conte: in the past few days, the Belgian had felicitated the departure of the Lecce coach, sparking a variety of reactions in the Napoli world. The relationship between the former Manchester City star and the former Inter and Juve coach has never taken off, and the difficulties of this season have aggravated the rift.
At Het Nieuwsblad De Bruyne had attacked Conte in no uncertain terms: “I was promised things that were not respected. Conte has a very different vision of soccer from mine. I have never had the chance to play in my favorite position. If you try to win every game by one goal with a 5-4-1, you propose a certain kind of soccer…At the beginning of the season we were even playing very far back. Our top scorer scored ten goals. So you know the statistics won’t be great. I’m happy for his departure.”
To reply to De Bruyne was not Conte directly, but his deputy Stellini: “It makes little sense for players to arrive at Napoli who are 33 years old and who think about aesthetics rather than the result of a season. If players with this experience have to arrive, let them at least transmit joy and enthusiasm to young people to experience a place like Naples,” are the words reported by Corriere dello Sport.
“He did not. I wish him experiences more like what he wants, maybe already in the national team. Look at Modric, I am impressed with how Modric has fitted in at AC Milan. He has led his teammates with leadership and enthusiasm despite being in a very pragmatic team, never making judgments about management and coach. Being a professional also means understanding what you need to do to make the environment you play in the best possible.”
