Milan Hockey Club celebrates, green light for ICE Hockey League

The Milano Hockey Club has been admitted to the International ICE Hockey League and will take part in the league starting with the 2026/2027 season, bringing the city of Milan back to the top level of European field hockey after years of absence. Milan’s entry into the ICE Hockey League represents a significant step not only for the city, but for the entire Italian hockey movement. The project was born with the ambition to create a competitive and sustainable reality in the long run, capable of contributing to the growth of ice hockey in Italy and to bring new generations of fans to the sport.
Milan boasts one of the most important hockey traditions in the country, and the entry of a new club in one of the main European leagues represents a unique opportunity for revitalization, in the wake of the success of enthusiasm and visibility generated by the recent Olympics. The club’s new home will be the future facility in Rho Fiera, currently under construction, destined to become a reference point for field hockey and ice sports in the Milan metropolitan area.
The social colors of the new club will be Blue, Red, White and Gold, representing the link with the Milanese hockey tradition, the city of Milan and the international vision of the project. “We are proud to contribute to the birth of a project with an international scope, but deeply linked to Milan’s sporting history,” says Marco Margiotta, CEO of House of Doge, the club’s main investor, “we want to build something lasting for fans, partners and field hockey in Italy.” “Admission to the ICE Hockey League represents a fundamental step for our project and for the return of top-level field hockey to Milan,” says Christof Leitner, President of the Milano Hockey Club.
“We are working hard on the development of the new arena and building a solid and ambitious club. This is just the first step: we have put down roots to grow together and I would like to thank those who have supported us from the very first moment: the President of the Region Attilio Fontana, the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, the President of FISG Andrea Gios, the President of Fondazione Fiera Giovanni Bozzetti and the HC Milano Devils company that takes care of the youth sector.”
In the coming weeks, the Milano Hockey Club will officially present its digital channels, management, technical staff, team and the first initiatives dedicated to fans. Finally, it’s official. Milan is back on the ice.
