Mattila is not moving from Asiago

Mattila is not moving.

Through a note, Migross Supermarkets Asiago Hockey announced the confirmation of the entire technical staff, starting with head coach Petri Mattila, assistant coach Nicola Tessari and goalie coach Jorma Valtonen, and moving on to athletic trainer Enrico Cuccato and equipment manager Simone Rigoni.

Mattila, a 51-year-old Finn from Tampere, arrived in Asiago in mid-January 2020 to replace Barry Smith and has managed to collect two championships and an Alps Hockey League final. Next will be the second season of the two-year deal he signed last summer, allowing him to continue on the path he has taken that has led to reaching three out of three available finals and to the growth of the many youngsters who make up the Starry Lineup.

Along with Mattila, assistant coach Nicola Tessari, already in his sixth year as assistant coach, goaltendig coach Jorma Valtonen, for the Finnish legend this will be his third year on the plateau guiding the goalkeepers, Enrico Cuccato, who for the second consecutive year will follow the preparation and fitness of the Lions, and finally Simone Rigoni, fourth season for the equipment manager.
