Marc Marquez at 100: Valentino Rossi is getting closer

Marc Marquez had a perfect weekend in Hungary, taking a hat trick with the pole position, the Sprint and the race on Sunday. It was a success that allowed him to reach a historic milestone: with 100 victories in MotoGP he is now third on the all-time list, and ahead of him there are now only Giacomo Agostini (123) and Valentino Rossi (115).
The Spaniard, however, comes from a complicated period. In fact, on May 11 he underwent two operations, including one to the ‘famous’ right shoulder. As reported by Marca, Marquez said, “I hope, however, that this is my last comeback.”
Despite the victory, though, the Ducati rider prefers to remain cautious: “This comeback is not finished,” he said, “this circuit has helped me, but in any case we won. The nine-time world champion also told how difficult it was to recover from the injury suffered at Mandalika 2025: “The injury in Indonesia was hard physically, but even harder mentally.” His comeback had taken place at Mugello last week. On that occasion he had finished fifth in the Sprint and seventh in the long race, and Marc admitted, “I went to Mugello to prepare for this race.”
Hungary not only featured a series of victories, but also reopened the title games after the initial incident with Jorge Martin, Marco Bezzecchi, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Raul Fernandez and Fermin Aldeguer. In fact, before the Grand Prix, Marc was 103 lengths behind championship leader Marco Bezzecchi. Now the gap is down to 72 points. Despite the recovery in the standings, the alien does not want to fantasize: “I would like to say that I can attack without reservations, but I have more to lose than to gain,” he said firmly, “now we will go to two circuits that turn mostly right. Let’s see if I can get better after the summer break.”
The Spaniard then said, “Aprilia has suffered here.” In addition, the Ducati rider has one certainty: “I race in red and for me the best bike will always be the Ducati. I think in a few races we will have the best bike.”
