Australia refused to travel to Iran to play due to security concerns: the Asians will be awarded a 20-0 victory by forfeit. The match was scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. Italian time.
The Kangaroos had won the first nine matches played in the qualifiers and had already punched their ticket to the World Cup to be staged in 2023.
“Our federation made the right choice given what is happening over there,” said guard Dejan Vasiljevic, asked by The Herald Sun.
