2026 World Cup: Switzerland vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina—Probable Lineups

On Thursday evening at 9:00 p.m. Italian time, Switzerland will take the field to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second match of Group B of the 2026 World Cup. In the first round, the Swiss were held to a last-minute draw by Qatar (an own goal by Miro Muheim in the final seconds of the match), while Edin Dzeko and his teammates could not go beyond a 1-1 draw with Canada.
Murat Yakin is expected to make just one change from the match against Qatar: Aebischer is out, and Milan’s Jashari is in. In defense, Akanji is confirmed at center-back alongside Zakaria and Elvedi; in midfield, Freuler and Xhaka will play alongside Jashari and Ricardo Rodriguez on the wings. A three-man attack features Vargas and Ndoye supporting center forward Embolo.
Sergej Barbarez has also decided to make just one change: on the right wing, Alajbegovic will take the place of Bajraktarević, who started against Canada. Rounding out the midfield are Basic, Tahirovic, and Memic in front of the back line consisting of Dedic, Katic, Muharemovic, and Kolasinac. Demirovic and Lukic lead the attack.
