When Will Jannik Sinner Play at Wimbledon? The Organizers’ Decision Takes Everyone by Surprise

Wimbledon, Round 3: Jannik Sinner is ready to take the court again for the third round of the London tournament, where he will face Jenson Brooksby. After two hard-fought victories against Kecmanovic and Borges, the world No. 1 is still searching for his best form and aims to take another step forward against the 25-year-old American.

In a surprise move, the organizers have decided not to schedule the Italian’s match on Center Court at Wimbledon. Sinner, the defending champion, will instead play the American on Court 1 on Friday, July 3, no earlier than 3:10 p.m.

The decision has taken many insiders by surprise, leading them to speculate that Sinner himself may have requested to play on Court 1 in order to finish the match as quickly as possible and avoid it dragging on into the evening—or even being interrupted and postponed until Saturday morning. Felix Auger-Aliassime and American Michael Zheng, who came through qualifying, will thus play on Center Court in a surprise matchup.

Sinner and Brooksby have faced each other once before, back in 2021: in Washington, the South Tyrolean prevailed 7-6(2), 6-1, but both players are completely different from what they were back then. If he wins, Sinner will face either Rafael Jodar or Mochizuki in the round of 16. Lorenzo Sonego will also take the court on Friday against Taylor Fritz. All matches will be broadcast live exclusively on Sky Sport and streamed on NOW.
