Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz: Aryna Sabalenka Takes a Stand: “An Obvious Choice”

Carlos Alcaraz has won 7 Grand Slam tournaments at age 22, becoming the youngest tennis player ever to complete the Career Grand Slam; Jannik Sinner is the current undisputed world No. 1, and in addition to having 5 Grand Slam titles under his belt, he has already completed the Career Golden Masters, winning all 10 titles at age 24—the second player in history to do so after Novak Djokovic. The player from Murcia and the player from South Tyrol are undoubtedly the two current dominant forces in tennis, and choosing between them is certainly not easy.

But Aryna Sabalenka has no doubts, and in an interview with the First&Red YouTube channel, she clearly sided with the Italian: “Who do I prefer? Damn, why this question? Obviously, I prefer Jannik, because we have similar playing styles.”

“I think we both have a good forehand, a good backhand, and a good serve. We also have an aggressive style of tennis, let’s say,” stated the women’s No. 1. “In any case, I really like the way Alcaraz moves, the way he reads the court, the way he plays every ball. It’s clear that Carlos really enjoys playing. There isn’t a single ball he doesn’t try to reach.”

“When Alcaraz beat Jannik at the 2025 French Open after three match points, it was incredible. But at Wimbledon 2025, I was rooting for Jannik because I felt so bad for him at Roland Garros,” confessed the Tiger of Minsk.
