Donald Trump Wins the Golf Tournament, but Something Doesn’t Add Up

Amid one geopolitical crisis after another, Donald Trump always finds time for his favorite pastime: golf. Last weekend, the U.S. president announced that he had won both the members’ championship and the seniors’ championship at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, one of the clubs he owns.

On Truth, Trump proudly claimed his victories in his usual style: “Thank you very much to everyone who participated. I won with a score of 70, and I’m truly honored. Unlike the other participants, I have very little time to practice because I’m focused on so many other things. It’s called TALENT: I have it, they don’t!”

Many newspapers reacted with skepticism to the 80-year-old U.S. president’s incredible score of 70—two strokes under par—as he repeated last year’s success, when he even won with a score of 69.

Social media users also reacted with disbelief to the tycoon’s performance: Trump is known for cheating on his scores on the course. Thanks to Sunday’s two trophies, the most powerful man on earth has brought his total to 40 victories in tournaments held at his various golf clubs. He owns a total of 16 courses, with a combined value estimated by Forbes at around one billion euros: 12 are in the U.S., two in Scotland, one in Ireland, and one in the United Arab Emirates.
