Acerbi Is Looking for a Team; Torino Is in the Running Alongside Two Other Clubs: A Transfer Auction

Francesco Acerbi is looking for a team where he can finish his career. The former Inter defender, who has been a free agent since June, has no intention of retiring yet and has decided to continue his career in Italy, confident that he can still compete at the highest level.

The former Nerazzurri player wants to make a decision as soon as possible and has instructed his agents to look for a club: according to calciomercato.it, the clubs that have expressed interest are Sassuolo, Bologna, and Torino. At the moment, there do not appear to be any official offers yet, but the interest is there and has been reaffirmed. Acerbi played for Inter for the past four years, winning two Serie A titles. Previously, he played for Pavia, Renate, Spezia, Reggina, Chievo, Milan, Sassuolo, and Lazio.

Recently, there had also been talk of possible interest from Saudi Arabia—where his former coach, Simone Inzaghi, is currently managing—as well as from Genoa and Monza. However, Acerbi has always expressed a preference for staying in Serie A, and his choice now seems definitively set on the Italian league. At 38, the Lombardy-born defender—a European champion with the national team in 2021—still wants to prove he can play a leading role at the highest level.

In recent weeks, Torino has signed Comuzzo from Fiorentina and Swiss international Comert, who was a free agent: Acerbi could join only if there is a departure in the backline.
