Turin Transfer Market: Cairo Raises the Price for Cacciamani. Vagnati Sets Up a Deal for Roma
Negotiations are continuing between Roma and Torino regarding the possible transfer of Alessio Cacciamani to the capital. The Giallorossi have identified him as Wesley’s backup and are ready to invest a substantial sum for the player, whom Torino coach Ignazio Abate would like to keep at least for this season.
According to Il Messaggero, the gap between the two sides isn’t “astrous” but is still significant. In fact, Roma’s current offer does not exceed eight million euros, plus two million in bonuses, while Urbano Cairo’s asking price is approaching twenty million euros, including a fixed fee and bonuses tied to team and individual goals.
Former Torino sporting director Davide Vagnati, in an interview with Sky Sport, suggested the signing to the Roman club: “Cacciamani is highly professional and exceptionally well-mannered, and that’s the foundation for future growth. He’d be perfect for Gasperini’s style of play; he reminds me a lot of Spinazzola,” said the former Torino executive. “We brought him up to the first team with Vanoli, and we liked him right away.” Last season, however, the fullback from Jesi was not yet considered ready for Serie A and was loaned to Juve Stabia in Serie B, where he had an excellent season with 36 appearances, two goals, and four assists.
The interest in Cacciamani reflects Gian Piero Gasperini’s clear intention to strengthen the left flank. In the most recent preseason friendlies, the Grugliasco-based coach started Wesley on the left flank in a 3-4-2-1 formation, confirming the Brazilian’s central role in his tactical plan. Precisely for this reason, a quality backup with room to grow is a priority for the Giallorossi in the transfer market.
Torino, meanwhile, is already working to prepare for a potential sale: the name at the top of Petrachi’s list to bolster the wing is Niccolò Fortini of Fiorentina, a versatile player capable of playing on both flanks. Here too, however, there is a significant gap between supply and demand: the Viola are asking for 10 million euros, while Torino won’t go beyond 5 million.
