CT Italia: Here’s Who’s on Roberto Mancini’s Staff—Official Announcement and All the Names
Roberto Mancini’s second stint as head coach of the Italian national team is about to begin. The Jesi-born coach has officially announced the list of assistants who will be part of his staff for the upcoming adventure at Coverciano. First and foremost, Mancini will have Alberto Bollini by his side as assistant coach.
His staff will include Leonardo Bonucci, Antonio Gagliardi, and Massimo Maccarone. Marco Roccati will serve as goalkeeper coach with Cristiano Lupatelli as his assistant, while Giacomo Ceci and Marco Montini will be the athletic trainers. The match analyst duo will consist of Renato Baldi and Christian Venturini, while Lele Oriali will resume his role as team manager, succeeding Gianluigi Buffon.
“Roberto Mancini’s national team is beginning to take shape. Today marks the official announcement of the staff that will support him starting with the September training camp ahead of the UEFA Nations League matches against Turkey, France, and Belgium. He will be able to count on the invaluable support of Gabriele Oriali (1982 World Cup champion), who returns to the role of team manager after previously serving with Italy under both Antonio Conte and Mancini himself. In addition, the Azzurri head coach has named Alberto Bollini as his assistant, along with Leonardo Bonucci, Antonio Gagliardi, and Massimo Maccarone as technical staff members.”
“The now-former coach of the Under-19 national team brings with him many years of experience gained in youth development at Club Italia, culminating in the 2023 European Championship victory, and will support Mancini as his chief assistant in this new role. Bonucci continues his journey with the national team following his stint with Gennaro Gattuso, while Gagliardi—who previously served as a match analyst during the 2021 European Championship victory and brings extensive experience as a technical assistant at Juventus, Parma, in Saudi Arabia, and later in Iran, returns to the Azzurri in a technical role. For Maccarone, on the other hand, this marks his debut after working alongside Roberto Mancini in Qatar with Al-Sadd (his coaching career also includes stints as an assistant coach under Silvio Baldini at Carrarese and as head coach of Ghiviborgo and Piacenza in Serie D). Rounding out the Azzurri staff are goalkeeper coach Marco Roccati and assistant coach Cristiano Lupatelli, as well as strength and conditioning coaches Giacomo Ceci and Marco Montini, and match analysts Renato Baldi and Christian Venturini.”
Claudio Ranieri will serve as technical director and head of the delegation, while Gianfranco Zola will coordinate the youth national teams.
