Rafael Leao is leaving Milan after seven years: the Rossoneri and Galatasaray—the Portuguese star’s next club—have made the announcement official. However, what has sparked debate among many fans is the amount paid by the Turkish club for the player’s transfer, which they claim is significantly lower than the Portuguese international’s market value.

“AC Milan announces that it has permanently transferred the playing rights of Rafael Alexandre da Conceição Leão to Galatasaray Spor Klübü. Galatasaray’s statement regarding the acquisition of Leão reveals the details of the deal: “Regarding the transfer of professional soccer player Rafael Alexandre Da Conceição Leão, an agreement has been reached with the player’s club, AC Milan S.p.A. Under the terms of the agreement, the player’s club will receive a fixed transfer fee of 38 million euros. In addition, 20% of the profit from the player’s subsequent sale will be paid to AC Milan S.p.A. A four-year contract valid starting with the 2026–2027 season has been signed with the player. Under the terms of the agreement, the player will receive a guaranteed net salary of 10 million euros per season.”
