Rome Transfer Market: Everything Points to Luiz Henrique

Luiz Henrique currently appears to be the player with the best chance of becoming Roma’s new attacking reinforcement. Roma won their league opener (4-0 against Fiorentina, thanks to a stellar performance by Malen) and will take the field in Lecce on Monday. The Brazilian has reportedly expressed a desire to move to the capital, prioritizing the Giallorossi over other opportunities. Zenit St. Petersburg also appears open to discussing the deal, making this option more viable than the alternatives.

Roma is working on an offer of approximately 5 million euros for a loan with an option to buy, with a buyout clause set at 30 million that could become mandatory if certain on-field conditions are met. This is a formula that sporting director Tony D’Amico is also trying to apply to the other two players on the list: Jamie Leweling and Jamie Gittens.

The negotiations, however, present different challenges. Stuttgart is demanding more favorable terms and a higher fee to let Leweling go, while Chelsea would prefer to sell Gittens outright and has not yet agreed to the solution proposed by Roma. This is another reason why Luiz Henrique, at least at this stage, has the edge over the other candidates.

With less than 48 hours before the transfer window closes, Roma still needs to complete two deals. In addition to a new attacking player to deploy on the left, Gasperini is also waiting for a fullback. D’Amico therefore continues to work on multiple fronts, with Luiz Henrique currently representing the most concrete option to bolster the attack.
