Turin Transfer Market: Petrachi Sets His Sights on a Roma Target

Torino has taken concrete steps to sign Morato, a 25-year-old Brazilian defender set to leave Nottingham Forest who has also been on Roma’s radar in the past. The player, under contract with the English club through 2029, is reportedly eager to change teams.

Sporting director Petrachi has attempted to structure the deal as a loan with an option to buy set at 12 million euros. The possibility of including a conditional buyout clause is also on the table, though at a lower figure. At the moment, an agreement has not yet been reached with Nottingham Forest, and further discussions are expected this morning.

The defender fits the profile of a modern center back: physical, aggressive, strong in the air, and with good distribution skills. Having come up through the youth systems of Portuguesa and São Paulo, Morato arrived in Europe in 2019 and joined Benfica’s ranks, where he alternated between the B team and the first team until 2023, the year he won the Portuguese league title. In the summer of 2024, he transferred to Nottingham Forest, where he made over sixty appearances in two seasons, highlighted by a goal scored on the final day of the league season at Manchester United. His market value stands at around 15 million euros.
