Fiorentina Transfer Market: A Last-Minute Bid for Fabio Grosso’s Favorite Player
Fiorentina, which has had a start to the season that’s been as surprising as it has been below expectations (a 4-0 loss to the Giallorossi in Rome, followed by a shocking defeat at the Franchi against newly promoted Frosinone: a 3-0 win for the Ciociari)—could make a final push to sign Kristian Thorstvedt to bolster its midfield. Thorstvedt is particularly highly regarded by Fabio Grosso, who previously coached him at Sassuolo. The Norwegian’s arrival, however, would depend on the sale of Rolando Mandragora, whose departure would free up the necessary space to complete the deal.
As for Mandragora, there are multiple options on the table. The midfielder, valued by Fiorentina at around 10 million euros, has caught the eye of Torino (a club with which he has a history, having worn the Granata jersey during the 2021–2022 season) as part of a complex negotiation. Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa is also on the midfielder’s trail; De Rossi holds him in particularly high regard and is said to have pressed his club’s management to bring him to Liguria.
It’s not just Beto: according to a report by ‘La Nazione’, the Viola are ready to sign 23-year-old Willy Gnonto on loan from Leeds United. Gnonto is a versatile winger who came up through Inter’s youth system and has already made a name for himself on the national team with 13 appearances between 2022 and 2023 under Roberto Mancini. After four seasons in England between the Premier League and the Championship—147 games and 23 total goals with the Peacocks—Gnonto is ready for his first real experience in Serie A. His departure is also linked to the exit of Gudmundsson, whom Lazio is reportedly pursuing aggressively.
The name of Folarin Balogun, a Monaco forward who gained notoriety during the 2026 World Cup for a suspension later revoked by FIFA under circumstances that were controversial to say the least, with pressure from the Trump administration reportedly serving as the backdrop to the Disciplinary Commission’s decision to apply Article 27 of the Federal Disciplinary Code. Paratici reportedly initiated talks with the Monaco management, but the deal appears to have taken a back seat following the completion of the Beto transfer.
