Turin Transfer Market: The Final Transfer. Done for Rodriguez

Torino welcomes back Ricardo Rodriguez: the Swiss defender, now a free agent, will play for the Granata next season. Ignazio Abate had requested a left-footed defender, and Torino’s management played it safe by signing the Swiss international, who brings experience and charisma to the squad.

Rodriguez played for Torino from 2020 to 2024, appearing in 128 matches in total; over the past two years, however, he has played for Real Betis in La Liga. He is a veteran of the Swiss national team, where he has made a total of 144 appearances and played in six matches at the last World Cup in North America.

On the outgoing front, Torino has yet to finalize the transfer of Gvidas Gineitis. The transfer window in Scotland closes on Thursday evening, and Celtic will come forward with another offer for the Lithuanian midfielder after Torino rejected Wednesday’s proposal. Torino has signed Rolando Mandragora and Bragança and is open to letting the player go, but wants a suitable sum, close to 10 million euros: at the moment, the Scots’ offers fall short. It is very likely that further talks today could lead to new developments; otherwise, the player will have to wait until January for a possible departure.

On the incoming front, Torino’s summer transfer window closed with several notable moves on the final day of negotiations. In addition to Mandragora, who arrived from Fiorentina for approximately 5 million euros on a four-year contract through 2030, the Granata also officially announced the signing of Nathan Patterson from Everton. The fullback, born in 2001, who came up through the ranks at Rangers Glasgow and has 29 caps for the Scottish national team, joined on a permanent basis and signed a three-year contract: he is the third Scot to wear the Granata jersey after Denis Law and Che Adams.
