The match between Udinese and Cagliari in the fifth round of the 2026-2027 Serie A season, scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, promises to be full of excitement. Both teams are looking for a strong result to boost morale heading into the long break for international matches. The match will be officiated by Gianluca Manganiello, a financial analyst by profession and a member of the AIA section in Pinerolo (Turin).

Udinese had started the season well: first a 1-1 draw with Como, then a 3-2 away win against Monza, and finally advancing in the Coppa Italia with a 2-1 victory over Venezia. From there, however, they suffered two losses, in both cases despite taking an early lead: against Lazio, the match ended 2-1 (Frattesi and Gudmundsson replied to Karlstrom’s goal), and against Inter, 5-3 (goals by Abankwah and Ekkelenkamp were answered by Carlos Augusto, Barella, Thuram, Esposito, and Bonny before Gueye’s late consolation goal).

Cagliari, on the other hand, has won three of the four league games played so far, all by narrow margins: 1-0 at Parma with a goal by Romano and at Lecce with a goal by Maldini, and 2-1 on the road against Atalanta with goals by Mendy and Maldini (on a penalty kick). The 1-0 home loss to Inter on August 30 is their only league defeat and comes on top of the 2-1 loss to Hellas Verona in the Coppa Italia—the only truly bitter note of this early season for coach Fabio Pisacane and his players.

Probable Lineups
