Milan and Lecce face off at 8:45 p.m. at San Siro in the late game of the fifth matchday of Serie A. After two consecutive draws against Juventus and Lazio and a loss to Benfica, Amorim’s team is looking to return to winning ways at home against Lecce to calm tensions that have been running high due to the Portuguese coach’s recent decisions, which have not gone over well with the fans. The Giallorossi are coming off a home win against Monza that has restored the team’s confidence; they now sit in 12th place with 6 points.

Gonçalo Ramos is a sure starter up front for Milan; behind him will be Pulisic, making his first start, alongside either Saelemaekers or Cissé. On the wings, Chukwueze is a sure starter on the right, while on the left, Estupinan still has the edge over Diego Moreira. In midfield, Rabiot and likely Modric.

Di Francesco is counting on the attacking trio of N’Dri, Stulic, and Monteiro. Geubbels will be out due to injury. In midfield: Coulibaly, Ilic, and Maleh; the two fullbacks will be Danilo Veiga and Gallo.

Milan vs. Lecce, probable lineups
MILAN (3-4-2-1): Maignan; Gila, De Winter, Pavlovic; Chukwueze, Modric, Rabiot, Estupinan; Pulisic, Saelemaekers; Ramos. Head Coach: Amorim
LECCE (4-3-3): Falcone; Danilo Veiga, Siebert, Tiago Gabriel, Gallo; Coulibaly, Ilic, Maleh; N’Dri, Stulic, Monteiro. Head Coach: Di Francesco

Amorim had this to say at the press conference ahead of the match: “The team is ready for the match; we can’t change the past, but we can change the next game. I always talk to the team, not just when we lose: there are many things to improve. We want to be ready for tomorrow night. The meeting with Cardinale? Just routine matters—we discussed club business, nothing out of the ordinary. Is the team not suited to this style? My approach to soccer isn’t based on a formation, but on principles—that’s what matters. Two things can be true at the same time. I said that when you join a new club, it’s impossible to have all the right qualities in every aspect and for every eventuality. That’s what I said.”
