Davis Cup, Lorenzo Sonego admits, “It felt like Italy.”
Sonego overcame Tiafoe in two sets
Great performance for Lorenzo Sonego in the Davis Cup quarterfinals. In Malaga, the Turin-based tennis player overcame U.S. Frances Tiafoe in two sets, with a score of 6-3, 7-6.
After the match, the Italian thanked the crowd, in the words reported by TennisFever: “It felt like being in Italy, a bit like when we play in Rome. But after all, we are in Malaga, it is not a very long trip for our fans. Also thanks to the audience, I enjoyed every moment and had a good time.”
“Playing in the national team is pride and responsibility, defending the colors of your country is very different than playing the various tournaments. The goal was to avoid loading myself too much with pressure, as had happened to me in the past. The experiences in Turin and Bratislava taught me a lot. I entered the court convinced and now I am happy,” Sonego continued.
