Milan Transfer Market: The Rossoneri Are Trying to Pull Off a Major Signing in January

Milan is on the hunt for defensive reinforcements, preferably as early as January. Ruben Amorim has been vocal about the need for a reliable, world-class center back, and the Rossoneri are looking around for a suitable opportunity. The list of targets also includes Min-Jae Kim, a key player for Napoli’s Scudetto-winning squad who is now with Bayern Munich.

The South Korean center back, who is also being targeted by several Premier League clubs, has a contract set to expire in 2028 and is not central to the Bavarian club’s plans. Much will depend on the contract extension offer that Bayern presents to Kim in the coming months.

The former Napoli player’s transfer value is estimated at around 25 million euros, and the main issue is his salary: According to Corriere dello Sport, Kim is reportedly asking for about 7 million euros net per year to wear the Rossoneri jersey. The player is happy in Germany but has not ruled out a possible return to Serie A outright.

After three seasons at Bayern that haven’t always been easy, the 1996-born player finds himself at a crossroads: discussions with Vincent Kompany and the Bavarian management will be decisive in determining what the future holds for him in Germany. Kim continues to start matches, but without the consistency he might find elsewhere.

As for the feasibility of a winter transfer, it seems unlikely that Bayern would agree to part ways with Kim as early as the next transfer window: despite his limited playing time, the South Korean remains a valuable asset for Kompany, who would prefer to finish the season with him on the roster, barring a new defensive signing in January.
