Upon arriving in China, Sinner will assess the condition of his knee during training and only then decide whether to participate in the event and finally return to the court after more than three months off. The Italian wants to protect his world No. 1 ranking from Alexander Zverev’s challenge, and to do so, he’ll have to defend a number of ranking points between now and the end of the season.
His goals for the end of 2026 are the Vienna tournament, the Paris Masters 1000, and the ATP Finals in Turin. Before that, if his comeback goes as the Italian hopes, Sinner will also compete in the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, scheduled for October 21–24.
