Inter is already looking toward the future, and among the names being closely monitored is that of Alessandro Romano, a young midfielder from Cagliari who has caught the Nerazzurri’s attention thanks in part to his recent performances with the national team. Born in Switzerland in 2006 and raised in Italy, Romano possesses attributes that align with Inter’s vision for the midfield: he is left-footed, stands 185 centimeters tall, has a strong physical build, and shows significant room for growth. His name could come back into the spotlight ahead of next season, especially if the club decides to add a physically imposing player to the midfield.

Much will also depend on the situation of Hakan Calhanoglu, whose contract expires in June 2027. The Turkish player remains central to Inter’s plans, but his physical condition will be a key factor in assessing his future. Inter therefore continues to monitor the transfer market, and Romano is one of the options being kept under observation. Furthermore, Inter has an important precedent in its dealings with Cagliari: Nicolò Barella, who arrived from Sardinia in 2019, has become one of Inter’s cornerstones. A total investment of approximately 49 million euros that, after eight seasons, has yielded top-tier results.

The future of Aleksandar Stankovic—born in 2005 and son of Dejan—also remains to be determined; Inter has retained him so far despite interest from other clubs and substantial offers. The Serbian will be closely watched, while Inter will continue to monitor Romano. Meanwhile, Cagliari is obligated to buy out the young midfielder for 6.5 million euros and sign him to a five-year contract. His market value has already risen above 20 million and could increase further. Inter, therefore, is observing and gathering information, with the goal of being ready should they decide to make a move in the coming months.
