Jannik Sinner: There’s some big news regarding his coach

One of the most widely discussed possibilities regarding Jannik Sinner’s future as a coach seems set to fall through. According to The Times, Ivan Ljubicic is indeed ready to embark on a new professional venture, but alongside Felix Auger-Aliassime, the current world No. 5, and not the South Tyrolean.

In recent months, the former Croatian tennis player’s name had come up quite frequently among the possible candidates to succeed Darren Cahill, should the Australian coach decide to end his collaboration with the Italian champion at the end of next season. Ljubicic’s move to Auger-Aliassime’s team would effectively rule him out of the running for the role of new “supercoach” on the world No. 1’s team.

As for Cahill, no final decision has yet been made regarding his future. Back in 2025, the Australian coach had already expressed his desire to end his tenure with Sinner’s team, only to revise his plans after the victorious ATP Finals and extend the partnership for another season. Since then, the situation has remained up in the air, with the tennis world continuing to wonder what the Australian coach’s final decision will be.

Meanwhile, Sinner continues on his path with a team that has found an extraordinary balance centered around the duo of Cahill and longtime coach Simone Vagnozzi. The results achieved in recent years are there for all to see and are one of the reasons why any potential change is being watched very closely.

As for Ljubicic, however, the idea is to bring all his experience—not only as a player but also as a coach (among the players he has coached is a certain Roger Federer)—to the team of Felix Auger-Aliassime, a player of enormous talent who, however, has never managed to make the definitive breakthrough in the most important tournaments on the circuit.
