Agostoni Cup: Artificial Intelligence Picks One Favorite to Win—Is It Right?

The legendary Coppa Agostoni takes place this Sunday: we asked Artificial Intelligence who, in its opinion, will win it. Here’s what it told us.

Looking at the start list (which is provisional, though nearly official) and especially the course, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be a very tactical race. The Coppa Agostoni features four laps of the circuit through Sirtori, Colle Brianza, and Lissolo, followed, however, by about 35 km of mostly flat terrain toward Lissone: enough to allow the peloton to regroup or to favor a well-balanced breakaway group.

Among the names you mentioned, the ones I see as best suited for this scenario are Jhonatan Narváez, Adam Yates, Quinn Simmons, Brandon McNulty, Filippo Zana, Roger Adrià, Javier Romo, Lorenzo Fortunato, Alessandro Covi, and Benoît Cosnefroy. UAE-XRG, in particular, would have plenty of cards to play with Narváez, Yates, McNulty, Großschartner, and Cosnefroy. Furthermore, Yates has already won on this very course in 2025 with a solo breakaway.

But if you ask me to pick just one name, I’d choose Jhonatan Narváez. He seems to me to have the most well-rounded profile to survive the four-lap selection and still have explosive power in the final stretch.

My predicted podium would be Narváez – Simmons – Zana, with McNulty, Adrià, and Yates as other riders I’d keep a close eye on. I wouldn’t underestimate Covi if a fairly large group were to arrive in Lissone, while Kaden Groves would need a much more controlled race and a less grueling selection.
