Silence still reigns regarding Jannik Sinner’s condition; he will have to announce very soon whether or not he will participate in the Shanghai Masters 1000. The Italian, who has been sidelined since the Wimbledon final due to knee problems, has not revealed anything in recent weeks and has remained tight-lipped about his current physical condition, even though he is training regularly in Monte Carlo.

On social media, speculation and rumors about the world No. 1’s highly anticipated decision have been multiplying. What sparked discussion late Friday afternoon was the posting on Instagram and X of several photos of Sinner at a restaurant in Lyon—one with a female fan and one of him alone.

The South Tyrolean tennis player’s possible presence in Lyon has alarmed fans and sparked further concerns: the French city is considered one of the world’s capitals of knee surgery, thanks to a tradition of medical excellence dating back to the 1970s. There are at least four leading clinics there, staffed by internationally renowned surgeons.

According to the latest official sources, there is still cautious optimism regarding the South Tyrolean’s condition. According to reports gathered by Sky Sport and confirmed by Adnkronos, Sinner is said to be “clinically recovered” from the extra-articular tendon inflammation in his right knee, with his training sessions in Monte Carlo described as increasingly intense. It’s possible that the Italian made a quick trip to Lyon (less than an hour’s flight from the Principality) just for a consultation. And there’s one reassuring detail: in the photos, Jannik is smiling.
