Burkina Faso fields its young players; Argentina scores seven goals in an embarrassing match: Lautaro, Paz, and Mastantuono also score

Argentina crushed Burkina Faso 7-0 in a friendly match that was overshadowed from the outset by the African national team’s problems. The team arrived in Buenos Aires just six hours before kickoff, after an 11-hour trip from Casablanca. Complicating matters further was the withdrawal of the senior national team, which did not make the trip due to organizational issues related to the flight and certain financial matters. Burkina Faso was thus forced to field its Under-23 squad.
The match was a one-sided affair. Argentina opened the scoring after just three minutes with a goal by Lautaro Martinez, followed by an own goal by Moumouni Diallo in the 8th minute and a goal by Gianluca Prestianni in the 12th minute. In just over ten minutes, the match was already virtually over.
Before halftime, Argentina extended its lead with two goals in the span of a minute: Nico Paz in the 35th minute and Julian Alvarez in the 36th minute set the score at 5-0. In the second half, Franco Mastantuono in the 57th minute and Giuliano Simeone in the 91st minute also found the net, sealing the final 7-0 score.
The gap between the two teams was also evident in the statistics. Burkina Faso finished with just 25% possession and only one shot on goal, while Argentina controlled the match with ease from start to finish.
