Lionel Messi: Antonela Roccuzzo’s Heartfelt Message

Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram profile dedicated to the Rosario-born forward, just a few hours after his retirement from the Argentine national team, which took place following the final match against Benin at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.

“There are nights that sum up an entire life,” Antonela wrote. “How wonderful to see you surrounded by so much love, by so many people thanking you and giving back everything you’ve given them over so many years. You’ve earned that love. You built it with your character, your humility, your dedication, and the heart you’ve always given to this jersey.”

“What a privilege it’s been to walk this path by your side, and how moving it is to see you close such an important chapter of your life in this way,” the message continues. We love you, and we’re always with you.”

Messi himself, deeply moved during the evening held in his honor, wanted to send a message to the fans: “It was my last game, and I already miss wearing the blue and white jersey. I know I made the right decision.” During his speech, he thanked his family, friends, teammates, coaches, and even Diego Maradona: “I don’t want to forget Diego, who took our country to where it deserved to be.”
