He begins his hunger strike and appeals to Edoardo Bove: “Let us know how you’re doing”

Mirko Damasco, president of the Salvagente Italia association and a healthcare activist, has begun a new hunger strike to demand the passage of a law mandating first-aid training in schools. The bill, named after soccer player Edoardo Bove, who suffered a cardiac arrest during the Fiorentina–Inter match in 2024, is still stalled in Parliament.
The activist from Monza has been committed for years to accident prevention and child protection through Salvagente Italia, which organizes pediatric airway clearance courses and safety awareness campaigns, including the proper use of car seats. He also volunteers in Africa.
On social media, Damasco explained that he chose a hunger strike as a form of nonviolent protest to support everyone’s right to receive help in an emergency and students’ right to learn first aid techniques. He also appealed to Edoardo Bove, asking him to speak out publicly to push forward the legislation bearing his name. “We are also asking him to make his voice heard, since they used his name to create a law that is currently still stalled,” according to Il Giorno.
After traveling to Rome to support the initiative, Damasco began a hunger strike with the aim of drawing the institutions’ attention to the bill, which is still awaiting approval.
