GranPiemonte: Bettiol finishes third; Godon wins. “I like racing here,” says the Frenchman

Netcompany Ineos rider Dorian Godon won the 110th edition of the GranPiemonte presented by Crédit Agricole, a 181-km race starting in Asti. Anthon Charmig (Uno-X Mobility) and Alberto Bettiol (XDS Astana Team) finished second and third, respectively, at the finish line in Bra.
“The course for this year’s GranPiemonte, which was less demanding than in previous years, suited me well, so I was optimistic about my chances,” noted the French rider. “The team worked hard in the final stretch, bringing me into the last turn in third place. From there, I just had to push as hard as I could to the finish line. With this win, I now have seven victories this season with my new team. I like these tricky finishes; there are plenty of them in Italian races, and that’s why I enjoy racing here.”
For Godon, this is further confirmation of an extraordinary 2026—his first season in his new adventure with Netcompany Ineos following the signing of a three-year contract announced in August 2025. The Frenchman, who had won the national road title before the transfer, had already shown he was comfortable in his new jersey last April, when he donned the first yellow jersey of the Tour de Romandie, winning the prologue time trial in Villars-sur-Glâne with a time of 3’35”, finishing 6″ ahead of Jakob Soderqvist and Ivo Oliveira.
Today’s victory further enriches an already impressive list of achievements for the 30-year-old from Valence, who throughout his career has already added to his trophy case, among others, victories at the Brabantse Pijl and the Giro del Veneto in 2023, as well as two wins at Paris-Camembert. Last September, at the Giro d’Abruzzo, Godon had also demonstrated his competitiveness by finishing second on the Popoli Terme–Caramanico Terme stage, beaten only by Germany’s Lennart Jasch of the Tudor Pro Cycling Team.
Bettiol, who finished third today in Bra, continues to shine in a standout season: the Tuscan rider from the XDS Astana Team had already made a name for himself last May at the Giro d’Italia, when he won the 13th stage from Alessandria to Verbania solo, finishing 26 seconds ahead of Andreas Leknessund. That was his second individual victory at the Giro d’Italia, following his win in Stradella in 2021.
