Cortina, two men’s super-Gs on Jan. 28 and 29
SuperG in Cortina
Italy is organizing in record time two men’s World Cup superGs on the weekend of January 28 and 29 in Cortina, on the Olympia delle Tofane, which will stage the women’s World Cup next weekend. These are the make-up of the superG not held in Val Gardena and the one skipped in Lake Louise earlier this season.
With the inclusion on the calendar of the night giant slalom in Schladming, there would not be time to rehearse for a downhill and so the FIS opted to make up the two superGs. The cancelled downhill in Garmisch will not be made up. Once again the Italian organization succeeds in putting itself at the service of the World Cup and after the recovery of the women’s giant in Spindleruv Mlyn at Kronplatz, it inserts an additional men’s speed weekend in the Queen of the Dolomites, thus guaranteeing the essential competitive continuity before the World Championships in Meribel-Courchevel.
