Australian Open: Rafa Nadal cracks, out in the second round
Majorcan held back by groin problem
Incredible but true, Nadal is already out of the Australian Open. The Majorcan surrendered to McDonald in only three sets (6-4, 6-4, 7-5 the match’s partials). Great performance by the American who, from the very first exchanges, held his own against the defending champion.
Match largely conditioned by the injury to Nadal. On the score of 6-4 5-3 in favor of the American, the number 1 seed of the tournament was forced to leave the court due to a groin problem. Nadal still wanted to stay on the court until the end of the match. Upon leaving the arena, everyone stood to pay their respects.
