Skiing, Mikaela Shiffrin record: Ingemar Stenmark already knew everything
Alpine Ski World Cup kicks off today
The Alpine Skiing World Championships begin today (until next February 19). Spotlight, of course, on Mikaela Shiffrin, the true star of women’s skiing. She has Ingemar Stenmark’s record in her sights: 86 World Cup victories, one more than the American star.
The Swedish legend is not surprised, indeed: “Four years ago I said Mikaela would get to 100, and you can admit I was right. Times have changed. Back then we had four specialties at our disposal: slalom, giant slalom, downhill and combined, which is different from today. Super-G came later, parallel is a separate issue. Now they rightly have more possibilities and she can express herself very well in all of them,” his words to Gazzetta dello Sport.
