Gianluigi Buffon speaks out on Gianluigi Donnarumma
The words of Gianluigi Buffon
Gianluigi Buffon, at 45, is still dreaming of Serie A: “Let’s say that in the last few games we’ve picked up the pace a bit: getting better is important to nurture hope, to ignite the ambition that we can reach a goal.”
Interviewed by La Stampa, the Parma goalkeeper also spoke about Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is fresh off a duck in the Champions League round of 16 against Bayern Munich: “It is the fate of goalkeepers, a role I advise against to my children: there is always a part of the imponderable that is independent of ability, compared to offensive roles you have much more to lose than to gain.”
He closed on Vialli and Mihajlovic, who died in recent weeks: “You are left with a veil of sadness. And you understand the importance they had beyond soccer, in social and family: before champions, they were fathers, husbands, friends. I was moved by a letter from Sinisa’s daughter: we have to make our people understand how lucky we are to be together every day, to not have illnesses. Serenity and health are not a given.”
