F1, Laurent Rossi sheds light on Esteban Ocon’s role

The Frenchman started the season with zero points

Ocon started the new F1 season not at his best: zero points at the Bahrain GP. Alpine CEO Rossi spoke on the F1 Beyond The Grid podcast about the French driver, described in the past as an “excellent second driver.”

“This guy has never had an easy path. In spite of everything, he has had successes in all categories, he has competed against Max (Verstappen) and Charles (Leclerc), in other words he has beaten in the past all those who are currently the best drivers. I have always said that Esteban is, at the very least, a very good second driver. Everyone has interpreted this statement in different ways. At Ferrari there is not officially a first and a second driver but it is as if there is a second driver,” Rossi’s words.
