Marc Marquez, penalty comes: his bitter admission
The penalty comes, and admissions of guilt follow soon after.
Marc Marquez takes responsibility for the accident with Miguel Oliveira that occurred on the third lap of the Portuguese Grand Prix. The events in Portimao led the MotoGP to sanction a penalty against the Honda centaur, who will have to serve it in Argentina. And the Catalan, at the end of the race, acknowledged that it was all fair.
“I made a mistake, and rightly they have given me two long lap penalties that I will have to serve in Argentina,” Marquez told the microphones of ‘Sky Sport.’ “It was not my intention to hit Oliveira, I had chosen to mount the hard tire on the front and unfortunately I got a very heavy blockage.
Marquez then went into more detail about the dynamics of the accident. “I wanted to go left, but I had no way to lift the bike. I therefore managed to avoid Martin, but Oliveira did not. I apologize to Miguel and his team, the important thing now is that he is okay,” the Catalan concluded.
Marquez’s blackest Sunday is not over, moreover, given the possible problems with his right hand after the crash. “Marc’s injury didn’t seem to be anything major, but we saw on X-rays a possible fracture of the first metacarpal of his right hand. We have immobilized it and now we depend on the complementary tests we will do at the hospital,” the head of the medical center, Angel Charte, told ‘Dazn’.
