Federica Brignone categorical about her future
Federica Brignone rules out goodbye: “If I left now I would regret this choice, I’m having fun.”
Alpine skiing champion Federica Brignone in an interview with La Stampa wanted to send a clear message about her future: “Quitting? I am aware that if I said enough now I would regret this choice. I’m having fun, I’m fine physically, I don’t have a problem and I have great motivation.”
“If I look at the results I don’t need anything anymore, but I have a boundless passion for this sport. I like competing, putting myself on the line, measuring myself against opponents. This continuing to struggle, maybe to climb up the rankings after a bad moment, gives me emotions that in life I may never experience again. Fear, adrenaline and other sensations make me feel alive: skiing is incredible and beautiful.”
The Azzurra this season won two gold medals at the World Championships and finished fourth overall: “This season has been beautiful, I’ve been good with the girls’ group, I’ve lived to the fullest after the restrictions, although everything has been tough, especially because the side events are back, very tiring, even more so when you’re in Italy. I had a super year in all specialties, although I missed a few races, but I’m not a robot and sometimes I don’t control my emotions. In the last few months I have been skiing hard.”
