Fognini, ankle trouble: Cecchinato wins derby
Marco Cecchinato won the Italian derby against Fabio Fognini: the Sicilian tennis player qualified for the quarterfinals of the Atp250 tournament in Estoril thanks to a three-set victory in nearly two hours of play with the scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Ligurian athlete had to deal with an ankle problem in his right foot that plagued him for much of the match. Cecchinato will now face the winner of the match between France’s Luca Van Assche and Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarters.
